The cost for the one-week session is $900, which includes course tuition, an air conditioned room and meals, all activities, an academy t-shirt, and other materials.
One half of the tuition costs, all cards, and medical forms are due by April 14, 2021.
Students accepted into the Academy must pay fees in full on or before June 4, 2021.
Students should also bring spending money. While spending varies from student to student in such programs, most students would be unlikely to spend more than $50 on Truman attire, snacks, or program activities.
Students are encouraged to discuss budgeting of money with their parents before coming to the Academy. The Academy is not responsible for students’ spending choices.
ATSU-Truman Healthcare Academy also provides a “Hall Store” in conjunction with the Joseph Baldwin Academy, which is located near the dining hall. There they can purchase drinks, snacks, and other academy-related items.
A $40.00 room key deposit and processing fee will be required upon check-in to cover lost keys. When you return your key at the conclusion of the Academy, you will receive a refund of this deposit.
Students who live near the Kansas City Airport are also welcome to use the shuttle service at the same cost listed above. Someone from ATSU-Truman Healthcare Academy will notify you of a time to meet us at the airport to get on the shuttle the week prior to your arrival. Just indicate “shuttle only” on your travel card.
Some students selected for the ATSU-Truman Healthcare Academy will be awarded partial or full scholarships. The number of scholarships is limited and will be awarded on the basis of financial need.
Only students requesting financial aid should complete the request for financial aid section in on the application. Students needing financial assistance are also encouraged to seek aid from service and business organizations in their local community.

To withdraw your student from the Academy for any reason prior to the arrival date, you must notify the Institute for Academic Outreach at 660-785-5406. To withdraw your student after their arrival on campus, you must notify the Dean or the Director of the Academy. Refunds take approximately 7-10 business days to process from the time of withdrawal and are issued in the same method of payment used for your initial payment.
Tuition Refunds-Before the Session begins
- Tuition payments will be refunded in full for students who withdraw before the June 1 deadline.
Tuition Refunds-After the Session begins
- Tuition payments may be refunded on a pro-rated basis after the Session begins, but only for serious medical or family emergencies.
- Tuition payments will NOT be refunded for students going home due to homesickness or other personal activities or conflicts.
- No refunds will be given to students who are dismissed from the Academy for academic or disciplinary reasons.
